Introduction

For the second night in a row, Russia has been shelling Kyiv and the region with drones, and Ukrainian air defense systems have begun to repel the attacks.

The head of the military administration of the Ukrainian capital, Serhiy Popko, confirmed on Telegram today, Wednesday, that “the air raid warning system has been activated and air defense systems have responded to shelling on the way to Kiev.”

Shelter Instructions

In its Telegram channel, the military administration of Kyiv called on citizens to take refuge in shelters until the raids are over.

Raids on Kyiv and Odessa

Russia launched strikes in Kyiv, the port city of Odessa and the southern region of Kherson on Tuesday ahead of a NATO summit in Lithuania on ways to counter threats to Russia’s security.

So far, there have been no reports of those killed during the shelling of Kyiv and Odessa last night. But the governor of the Kherson region, Alexander Prokudin, said Russian troops had bombed parts of the region, killing a woman in the village of Sofiyivka and injuring two people in the city of Kherson.

Air strike warnings have been issued across Ukraine, where fighting continues, as NATO leaders gathered for a summit that the Kremlin has criticized and said Moscow will not stand by to protect its security.

Fall 26 March

For its part, the Ukrainian Air Force said that air defense systems shot down 26 Iranian-made Shahed drones out of 28 drones launched by Russia.

The Ukrainian military said that debris from downed drones in the Kyiv region damaged several houses. Officials said an administrative building was damaged in the city of Odessa, and a fire broke out in a dock near the port of Odessa, which was quickly extinguished.
