Ethereum Foundation will finance 13 community projects in Honduras and Colombia

The Ethereum Foundation announced grants for 13 community projects in Honduras and Colombia as part of its Ecosystem Support Program. This is a branch of the organization dedicated to promoting the development of local initiatives that are starting points to incorporate new users.

After having awarded local grants in Japan, Korea and Taiwan, the foundation reported on his official blog about the 8 projects in Honduras and 5 in Colombia that were favored. Among them chose educational initiatives, research and focused on the development of technical projects .

Among the beneficiaries of the grant in Colombia is “Discovering Blockchain”, in the education category. It is a cycle of free virtual talks dedicated to getting to know the ecosystem in depth. Its host, Diego Mazo, invites experts on the subject who respond to the doubts of the participants.

Also in the education category, the Nethereum project was selected, which is a platform with content in Spanish specialized for developers.

The other three projects selected in Colombia correspond to the research category. Among them, the TRU company will work on mapping the opportunities and challenges that arise in the country around the issuance of university diplomas on the Ethereum network.

The other two investigations that will receive support from the Foundation pursue the objective of helping the Government Colombia and social impact organizations to understand the ecosystem. One of them, will carry out a study on the use cases of cryptocurrencies in the country.

The other investigation, will specifically explore the Ethereum blockchain-based Emissions Trading System . This consists of an exchange mechanism that promotes the control of greenhouse gas emissions between companies from various sectors of the economy.

In Honduras the communities that move on Ethereum grow

A market for Honduran crafts validated on the Ethereum blockchain , is among the 8 projects that will receive a grant in this country. It is the work that computer science engineer Francisco Núñez is developing. His idea is based on a platform so that artisans can make their products available to the whole world, backed by a certificate of authenticity.

The Foundation will also finance the Shy Panda company that works in a decentralized application so that animal protection organizations receive donations based on Ethereum . While Ballotted, for its part, develops a voting platform to hold auditable elections through smart contracts.

In the category of “infrastructure tools”, the StablePay project that works on an SDK development kit. This instrument abstracts the complexities of integrations with layer 2 protocols, in a library similar to web3 so that users can use them easily.

Rodimiro Cerrato Espinal, is also among the beneficiaries of the infrastructure tools category. His idea is based on the development of a kit to carry out tests and simulations so that developers can configure their jobs quickly, in a confined environment with all the required services pre-configured.
