Pirelli’s new tire ensures safety in all metrological conditions
Pirelli remains committed to offering motorists tires for all metrological conditions, and for this reason this Tuesday introduced the second generation of the All Season SF2 Belt.
Aimed at a growing segment across Europe , and according to the Italian brand it can represent about 20% of tire sales within five years, the new Cinturato All Season SF2, is a tire that offers the same degree of safety throughout the year and in all conditions.
Designed for drivers who travel around 25,000 kilometers per year, the new Pirelli tire is available in 65 sizes, from 15 to 20 inches, featuring the M + S symbol along with the 3PMSF marking (mountain peak snowflake with three peaks), which indicates the tire’s excellent performance in winter conditions and certifies compliance with legislation
The Italian brand has revealed that the great innovation of this tire is in the new adaptable tread and a uniform contact area, factors that maximize driving safety and tire life by about 50% compared to Cinturato All Season Plus.
This result was achieved with refuse to use new composite materials, as well as to improve the stiffness located in the tread, thus allowing less rolling resistance and thus lower fuel consumption and greater autonomy with regard to electric vehicles, in the case of technology tires Elect.
In practice, the new Pirelli tire is equipped with a system that derives from 3D technology and that allows in winter that the tread grooves are open to allow safe braking. On dry or wet floors, the grooves close for better grip, thus turning the tread into a summer or winter tire.
Alias in rainy conditions , and according to Pirelli, the new Cinturato All Season SF2 can remove anything like 14.2 liters of water from the asphalt, in order to avoid aquaplaning situations.
To give even more safety to the driver, the Cinturato All Season SF2 is also available in some sizes with the ‘Seal Inside’ technology, which allows to continue driving without air leaks even in the case of punctures up to 4 mm.
In this way, a special compound that equips the inside of the tire surrounds the foreign body from the moment the puncture is registered, maintaining the pressure inside the tire. From the moment the object is removed, the compound seals the hole, preventing the tire from losing air.
In addition, the Pirelli ‘system Self-Supporting Run Flat ‘is also available in order to improve driving without compromising performance.
This system keeps the vehicle stable in situations where pressure of tires suddenly falls, and at the same time allows the driver to continue traveling in complete safety for 80 km at a maximum speed of 80 km / h.
Pirelli tires with this technology have specific reinforcements inserted in the side walls of the internal structure and are able to withstand lateral and transversal loads of the vehicle, even in the absence of pressure.
This new Cinturato All Season SF2 was also designed for electric vehicles and in that sense it has compounds, structure and tread which, according to Pirelli, guarantees a low rolling resistance in order to maximize su autonomy, while providing silence inside the cabin, and immediate adherence to meet the power and torque values at low revs typical of electric cars.
Pirelli who is the exclusive supplier of Formula 1 tires, invited Nico Rosberg, F1 world champion in 2016, to test the new Cinturato All Season SF2 at the brand’s test center.
The former driver was very pleased with the new tire for all seasons, particularly on wet conditions.
