How Much Sugar Can You Consume Daily?
Dr. Nadezhda Chernyshova announced that a healthy person can consume no more than 25 grams of sugar per day without any consequences for the body.
The Role of Sugar as a Source of Energy
And the doctor points out that sugar is a fast source of energy, so everything that is made from sugar can be eaten in case of intense mental work. But on the other hand, it is not recommended to eat a lot of sugar.
“The amount of sugar a healthy person can eat per day is 5-6 teaspoons (25 grams), but in general it’s better to eat less,” she says.
The Health Risks of Excess Sugar Consumption
According to her, excess sugar in the diet leads to health problems – weight gain, an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, chronic cardiovascular disease.
In addition, sugar supports inflammatory processes in the body, including those that occur in the inner lining of blood vessels, which ultimately leads to plaque formation and atherosclerosis.
