Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday convened the Punjab Assembly secretary along with suitable record in connection with the elections of provincial chief minister.
Chief Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti heard separate petitions filed by PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz and Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Dost Muhammad Mazari.
However Judge Bhatti turned down request of Mazar counsel seeks membership in the Punjab Assembly. “Let be record appear in court for pass appropriate order in in this regard,” said CJ LHC.
Hamza and Mazari filed two separate petitions. in high court in connection with elections for Punjab CM slot.
Hamza urged the court to declare authorities concerned convene session of meeting soon for vote on in CM seat, while Mazari sought to abolish of the PA speaker’s ruling, which deprived him of of the credentials of its acting speaker.
At the beginning of proceedings, Mazar counsel informed bench that Speaker Pervez Elahi illegally withdrew powers and obstructed in in CMselections.
Judge Bhatti asked why the speaker can’t leave power if he could delegate them.
counsel for Mazari replied that the speaker of Elahi was a candidate for in CM slot; therefore he could not perform speaker duties.
“The Vice Speaker carries out responsibilities of speaker under paragraph (3) of Article 53 read with Article 127 of Constitution”, counsel informed. “Under paragraph (3) of Article 53 when office of the speaker is free, or the speaker is absent, or cannot perform his functions due to any cause, the vice speaker is acting speaker,” he told the court.
Province without CM
Hamza Shehbaz counsel said that the province did not have a chief executive, and members of the cabinet followed their own selfish interests. “PML-N deputies are not allowed to enter the assembly,” he said, adding that Elahi resorted to delay. tactics sabotage elections.

Punjab Assembly session
