IHC Denies FIA Request to Extend Detention for Swati

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday rejected renewal of Additional physical detention of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati in case concerning his controversial tweet about government agencies.

After the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) request was denied for extension, IHC ordered for the accused must be sent to jail on judicial arrest.

development occurs on the day following the judgment one- day extension for Arrest of Swati.

At a previous hearing, the prosecutor argued that the extension was required for to the investigator to return the mobile phone of the PTI leader, which was used for post controversial tweet.

Before he appeared in court on Sunday, Swati, speaking to the media, accused Interior Minister Rana Sanaulla and director general FIA claiming they have registered first information report (FIR) against him and handed him over agencies who tortured him.
