Federal Court Blocks Louisiana Congressional Card

If the decision is upheld, it is likely that net Democrats extra seat in USA house of Representatives.

Now the blocked card has passed in March after the GOP-controlled legislature overrode a veto by Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards. of map. However, the Supreme Court also said in February that the Alabama congressional card was supposed to stay in place through the electoral cycle because absentee voting begin in condition seven weeks after decision was rendered.

In her decision, Judge Shelley Dick wrote that the timing issue in the Alabama case was “distinguishable” from the Louisiana situation.

Louisiana is now the only state without a map in place for election cycle 2022.
