It is pertinent to note that Hamza Shehbaz was re-elected as the chief minister (CM) of Punjab on Friday after votes of The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) was overruled by the Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly.
Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly Dost Mohammad Mazari – who presided over session – decided that votes of PML-Q MPs will not be counted in elections of chief of Punjab minister in in light of party head Chaudhry’s letter to Shujaat Hussain.

Pervez Elahi – joint candidate of PTI and PML-Q got 186 votes and Hamza Shehbaz got 179 votes. However. ten votes of The PML-Qs were overturned by Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari, increasing the number of votes to 176.
