Imran Khan condemns violence in Punjab Assembly calls Hamza election ‘sham’

PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday condemned the violence and noise that took place in Punjab Assembly one the day before and said that such an act was against established norms of democracy and the constitution.

On Twitter, the PTI chairman tweeted: “What happened? in The Punjab Assembly was condemned and against all democratic norms and constitutional provisions. Not one was in The President conducting the prospective elections – total violation of all right. We reject these fake mafia “elections”.

Assembly session was planned start at 11:30 on Saturday. However, this was delayed as PTI and PML-Q legislators resorted to violence.

At least three PTI members of The Punjab Assembly was arrested for attacking Deputy Speaker Dost Mohammad Mazari as party boycotted session elect new main minister.

They attacked the Vice Speaker and pulled his hair despite the presence of guards. deputy speaker left room after that session was postponed.

The police entered the premises of Punjabi Assembly through old building and took the control of situation.

Among the noise, Elahi, who was a candidate for chief minister also did not spare and became a target of violence in assembly, which left he is injured.

“Who will take their vote?” Elahi asked. He claimed that the members of in government were “dictators” and “real enemies of democracy”.

Among the hype was PML-N leader Hamza Shahbaz. elected as chief minister of Punjab. Hamza was elected as new main minister with 197 votes. While his opponent Pervez Elahi didn’t receive any votes how is it party and PTI boycotted the election.
