Imran highlights more dams, drainage system to avoid floods

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday visited flood-hit areas in Rozhan city of Rajanpur district and again confirmed need for improved drainage system as well as building more dams in country.

Speech after the meeting flood victims and revision of agreements for them in Rozhan, Khan said that if there were two dams in in the city, flood damage could be minimized.

“We need to build dams for water storage, but Wapda, unfortunately, only invests in reservoirs that produce electricity,” he said, adding that improved drainage system was also need of hour for correct release of flood water.

He said the floods had devastated the country and thousands of acres of agricultural land is now under water. “PDMA should active now play this is role estimate losses of infrastructure and harvesting so that proper rehabilitation can take place out preservation in view data,” he said.

Imran Khan asked PTI lawmakers to stay among flood affects in relevant areas so that their needs can be met on immediate basis. “I know in people in flood-hit areas in disasters, but once these areas are dehydrated, it will increase the yield in them area” Khan said.
