Climate activists disrupt Liz Truss’ speech at event latest The conservative leadership is fighting to highlight what they claim was her failure to do global heating crisis.
During the introductory remarks by Trass at the Winter Garden Theatre. in Eastbourne, several youth activists group Green New Deal Rising stood up to interrupt Truss about governments record and her politics.
Fatima Ibrahim was heard shouting, “Liz Truss, you should to be disgraced of himself.” Then another activist stood while Fatima removed from event stating that Truss did not have “a credible plan to deal with the biggest energy crisis… that you announced I won’t help people with energy bills of over £3,000 for year”. Three more activists were also saw protesters, and later in in event another protester was escorted out after interrupting production.
The farm is broken off from her speech to promise immediate suppression on militant protesters if she becomes prime minister. The audience, made up mostly of Conservative members and supporters booed the activists and shouted:out, out, out”when they were taken away.
First Truss interrupted her speech. Then she said: “I would immediately issue a law to sure what are we standing up to militant trade unions, who stop ordinary passengers getting into work. And I would pass legislation to protect our essential services. And will do sure that militant activists such as Extinction Rebellion are unable to disrupt the conventional people who work hard do it right and get in work”.
Farm added: “I never, never, never allow our democracy will be undermined by unfair protests.”
In a protest statement, Ibrahim said: “Liz Truss leading in polls and will probably become next prime minister but she can’t say anything reliable in answer to cost of life crisis and climate crisis.
“United Kingdom just experienced record-overcoming heat waves and energy giants raked in billions of profit every day people plunge into poverty as prices rise and wages stagnate.
“As young people who fear for our future, we are desperate need green new deal and political leadership to meet this moment of crisis, not this sideshow.”
