Yooka-Laylee Developer Launches Own Publisher Label

Yooka-Laylee developer Playtonic has launched Playtonic Friends publishing label.

The developer of Yooka-Laylee and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair wants to release games from other developers with the label. Three collaborations are already planned, namely Awe Interactive’s BPM: Bullets Per Minute, Fabraz ‘Slime-san and a still unnamed game from Okidokico.

Playtonic has been running for nearly six years. When the company was founded, this mainly resulted in publicity because several former Rare developers work there.

Playtonic indicates on its website that by becoming a game publisher, it wants to sell various games that fly under the radar. In addition, Playtonic says that it will also continue to work on games. It is not known what kind of game the studio is currently working on.
