Yakuza maker becomes creative director at Sega

Yakuza developer Toshihiro Nagoshi changes roles within publisher Sega: he swaps his position as chief creative officer for the position of creative director.

Nagoshi has been part of Sega since the 90’s and worked on Super Monkey Ball, among other things, before devoting himself fully to the Yakuza franchise.

His new position as creative director will officially start on April 1 this year and should ensure that he gets more involved in the actual development of games within Sega.

Nagoshi’s new feature was announced through Sega Sammy’s recent newsletter. This shows that the company is undertaking a lot of restructuring to make its business as streamlined as possible. For example, the games division and entertainment part of Sega are pulled loose. This has led to speculation on the internet about a possible acquisition of Sega – for example by Microsoft. However, there is nothing to indicate that this is the case.
