Toyota is set to preview concept versions of its next-generation electric vehicle (EV) at the Japan Mobility Show in October, as part of its push to become a global leader in the sector. The automaker will also invest a further ¥1tn ($7.54bn) in EV development and production until the end of the decade, taking its total commitment to ¥5tn ($37.71bn). The vehicle is scheduled to debut in 2026 and will be based on a wedge-shaped, long-wheelbase, fastback silhouette. The EV will be built on a new dedicated platform, enabling future EVs to double their range and requiring half the investment and development resources.
