The revelation was supported by a brand-new gameplay trailer uploaded to the PlayStation Shop. The preview was shortly taken down, but users saved a copy of it, which is now available online. While Riley and Jacob, the new partnership, explore Edwards Island, which is now apparently home to portals to the past and multiple timelines, we are introduced to the two characters for the first time.
The game was initially announced in 2021, and its release was scheduled for later that year; however, it was postponed due to production issues. According to Night School, the game’s release date was pushed back to 2022, and then it was pushed back to a release window of 2023. This was done to “make Oxenfree II truly special and include more localizations.”
The fans need to have a better understanding of when Oxenfree 2 could potentially be released. Despite this, there is a degree of guarded excitement about the new release date, which appears to be more certain.
Camena will once again serve as the primary location for the action in Oxenfree II, which will start five years after the first game’s events. Riley, now an adult, will play the role of the game’s protagonist. She has returned to the town for a reason to be there. Night School has discussed the game in the past and referred to it as a “coming-of-age story.” There will likely be an official announcement on the release date of Oxenfree II soon.
