Spotify has given its desktop and web player a new design and promises users more controls and an improved user experience. It will be rolled out in the coming weeks.

A few days ago, the music streaming service Spotify revamped the home page of its mobile app. The home hub got a new coat of paint around a year after the last change. The focus is on even greater personalization. All Android and iOS users should receive the update by the end of March. It could take a little longer before the new design of the desktop and web player arrives at all users worldwide.

The corresponding roll-out will be completed around the globe in the coming weeks, announced Spotify. All users of the advertising-financed Spotify and Spotify Premium should benefit from the innovations. In addition to the revised, clear design, Spotify has stated that it has attached importance to more control elements and an improved user experience.

Spotify player: New features in the overview

First of all, the new design should offer Spotify users easier access to particularly popular content . The search field was placed on the left side of the navigation. Listeners’ profile pages have been updated. After the changeover, they should also display top artists and their songs. A radio session for songs or artists should be started in the future by simply clicking on the … menu.

In addition, Spotify promises an easier way to Create playlists and have more control over them. In the future, descriptions will also be added to playlists and images will be uploaded. In addition, titles can be dragged and dropped into existing playlists. New songs and podcast episodes are easier to find with a new embedded search bar. These can then be added to new or existing playlists.

Listen to music and podcasts offline

Subscribers to Spotify’s premium service also have the option of downloading music and podcasts and playing them offline. The download can be initiated by clicking on the corresponding button in the desktop app.
