When starting the game players are given the option to choose different types of voices regardless of body type. They are also given the option of whether they want to be addressed as ‘wizard’ or ‘sorceress’.
According to anonymous employees, the options are a counter-reaction to Transphobic Comments from Harry Potter creator JK Rowling, who was discredited last year. The management of studio Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. would have opposed the transgender options and possible transgender characters at first, but would eventually have given in to the former.
Recently the game was again discredited because lead designer Troy Leavitt is said to be a supporter of Gamergate, an anti-progressive movement within the gaming industry.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Legacy will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S and PC in 2022.
