Bollywood actor and filmmaker Rajiv Kapoor, the youngest of late legend Raj Kapoor’s three sons, and the younger brother of Randhir Kapoor and late Rishi Kapoor has breathed his last at a hospital near his Chembur residence on February 10. He passed away after suffering a heart attack in Mumbai at the age of 58. After losing his 3 siblings and mother Krishna Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor said that he has now been left alone in his house.
“I don’t know what’s happening. I was equally close to Rishi and Rajiv. I have lost four people from my family–my mother Krishna Kapoor (October 2018), eldest sister Ritu (January 14, 2020), Rishi and now Rajiv,” Randhir told TOI adding that they were his central core whom he used to share things and talked the most with.
Last year, on April 30, Rishi Kapoor passed away after battling with cancer. “Do I have any option? What can I do? What has to happen will happen,” Randhir said when he was asked how he was coping up with his loss.
Veteran actress Neetu Kapoor on Wednesday revealed that no Chautha ceremony would be held in memory of her late brother-in-law Rajiv Kapoor, owing to the ongoing pandemic. Randhir added that he along with his wife Babita, daughter Karisma Kapoor and a few other members of the Kapoor family performed a small puja for Rajiv’s chautha.
Speaking about what had happened on February 9, Randhir said, “Well, I have a 24-hour nurse since I have a bit of problem in walking due to a nerve related issue. The nurse went to wake him up in the morning at about 7:30 am and he did not respond. She detected that his pulse was very low and dropping further. We rushed him to the hospital but all efforts to save him failed.” He then added, “And, now I am left alone in this house.”
