Nintendo announced this during the release of its quarterly figures for the last quarter of 2020. At the end of the third quarter of last year, the counter was still up 68.3 million units – that means 11.57 million units of the hybrid console were shipped in the last quarter of last year.

Nintendo initially expected to ship 24 million copies of the Switch in this fiscal year, which runs to the end of March 2021, but has now revised this to 26.5 million copies.
The company shipped 75.85 million games worldwide in the past quarter. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is still the best-selling Switch game with a total of 33.41 million copies sold. Then Animal Crossing: New Horizons (31.18 million), Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (22.85 million), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (21.45 million) and Pokémon Sword and Shield (20.35 million).
The company also released the first sales figures for some recently released Switch games. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit has sold 1.08 million times and Hyryle Warriors: Age of Calamity 2.84 million times. The figure of the latter game has been added without Japanese sales figures.
