New Mercedes-AMG GT 73 is a four-door coupe to be introduced later this year
Mercedes-AMG continues to work on the development of a four-door GT coupe, which is due to be introduced later this year, and which promises to be equipped with the most powerful AMG V8 series engine ever.
The images of one of the test models have now been revealed by «Autocar», and show that the new Mercedes-AMG GT 73 has an image similar to the AMG GT 63 S, where the grid stands out front Panamericana, four large exhaust vents, as well as a charge plug installed in the rear bumper, as with the plug-in hybrids of the Stuttgart brand.
According to the publication specialized in the automotive sector, the former head of Mercedes-AMG, Tobias Moers revealed in 2019 that the AMG GT 73 will count with an engine based on the GT Concept, unveiled at the Geneb Motor Show 2017, that is, a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo petrol block from AMG, combined with an electric motor installed on the front axle, providing a combined power, which according to Moers is 805 hp.
If the power of this new AMG block is confirmed, the new GT 73 will have a standard V8 engine “most powerful ever” , status that currently belongs to the GT Black Series , which has a block that delivers 730 hp of power.
The final numbers are yet to be confirmed, but it is estimated that the new Mercedes-AMG GT 73 will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than three seconds and that the hybrid system allows an autonomy in electric mode of about 50 km.
Remember that the series’ 73 ‘includes the most powerful models from Mercedes-AMG, and the last model in this series was the SL 73, which used a 7.3 liter V12 block, an engine that later came to equip the Pagani Zonda.
