With its new strategy, Kia wants to “redefine the entire mobility ecosystem”, the company shares on the occasion of its Investor days with. CEO Ho Sung Song emphasized that the recent renaming from Kia Motors to Kia and the new logo represent a realignment.
This includes the transition from the combustion engine to the electric vehicle, a stronger focus on special vehicles and the expansion of mobility services.
11 electric models until 2026
By 2026, Kia plans to offer eleven new electric models, including seven all-electric vehicles. The first of these should come on the market this year.
By 2030, Kia wants 40 percent of total sales Reach electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. That would correspond to 1.6 million vehicles. A good half of them should be purely electric vehicles.
Develop platforms for special vehicles
With special vehicles (PBVs), too, Kia is striving for a “leading position worldwide”. This should include vehicles for autonomous delivery and e-commerce. Kia wants to present its first special vehicle in 2022.
For this, Kia is cooperating with other companies to create micro and large platforms develop. Hyundai recently announced a collaboration with Canoo.
More mobility services
In the area of mobility services, Kia plans to expand its existing car sharing services in Spain, Italy and Russia. For companies and government institutions, Kia will offer a subscription and car sharing service based only on electric vehicles.
Later this year there will also be “Kia Subscription”, a worldwide version of the “Kia Flex” subscription program, which was launched in Korea in 2019.
