Today, on Saturday, the Israeli media reported the death of an Egyptian soldier who opened fire on Israeli forces near the border with Egypt.
This came after talk of killing two Israeli soldiers and injuring two others on the border with Egypt in a serious security incident, as described by the Hebrew media.
The website says: “Several hours before the accident on the Egyptian border, a drug smuggling operation was carried out in the same area, the estimated cost of which is one and a half million shekels. The operation included shooting to stop drug smuggling.”
On the other hand, today, on Saturday, the Israeli army radio, citing Egyptian sources, reported that Israeli aircraft bombed targets in the Egyptian Sinai.
While there has been no official comment from the Egyptian side so far, an Israeli army spokesman said: “There was a security incident this morning in the Faran regional district, as a result of which two were injured. The Israel Defense Forces is investigating the circumstances of the incident and details will be revealed later.”
