The cyber security training of the University of Óbuda is supported by Vodafone. Within the framework of the cooperation, the telecommunications company supports the cyber security engineering training of Donát Bánki’s Faculty of Mechanical and Security Engineering with three high-value, world-class high-tech cyber security tools. However, the equipment will be available for cyber security research and education at several faculties of the University.
The cooperation between the service provider and the University began in 2017, when Vodafone established a 4G laboratory at the University. The cyber security system now offered can be used by students of cyber security engineering training during their practical training, on the one hand, and to support the research of doctoral students at the other. The tools offered allow for behavioral-based detection and analysis of suspicious events in network traffic. With state-of-the-art technology that uses state-of-the-art technology, including heuristics, code and statistical analysis, emulation, and machine learning, they can detect and analyze advanced Zero Day attacks with up to 0 signatures. Their role is also to detect advanced (so-called APT) attacks that can bypass the protection of well-known and ubiquitous cyber security tools (such as firewalls, anti-virus software).
Tools provided by the University compared to traditional cyber security tools they are much more advanced, represent a high level of protection, providing information that traditional cyber defense tools cannot. This provides an opportunity to train cyber security engineers with up-to-date practical and theoretical knowledge.
Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of the University of Óbuda, expressed his joy that they could establish a closer relationship with Vodafone Magyarország Zrt. With such an innovation of this scale.
