GTA Online player reduces loading times by almost 70 percent

GTA Online player ‘t0st’ reduced game loading times by almost 70 percent.

In a blog , t0st explains how he rewritten GTA Online’s code to faster to load. For example, the game checks a text file with the 63,000 items from the game during loading. After each item, the game counts the number of characters of the item, which puts a heavy load on the PC’s CPU. The user estimates that the game consults the list about 1.9 billion times during loading.

It also prepares all read data by to record all data of an item, such as the category, and to make a kind of digital fingerprint. The game compares the category of the item with all other items in the list.

By rewriting the code, T0st clears the number of checks the game down to one, which reduces GTA Online load times by 69.4 percent.

According to the user, it’s very little for Rockstar work to reduce game loading times. The studio has not yet responded to the proposal.
