Publisher Take-Two Interactive announced this during the release of their figures for the third fiscal quarter of the year. The game is thus “one of the most iconic titles ever produced, according to CEO Strauss Zelnick. The game continues to exceed our expectations.”
According to Zelnick has sold more copies of Grand Theft Auto 5 since May 2020 than in any other year, with the exception of 2013, when the game launched.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A version should also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S later this year. A standalone version of GTA Online, GTA 5’s online multiplayer, will also be released.
Zelnick was also asked if there might be remasters of older Grand Theft Car games are planned. “That’s a great and encouraging question,” Zelnick replied, without confirming or denying. “Updates to our release schedule should come from Rockstar Games.”
Rockstar further announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 has shipped 36 million copies and that NBA 2K21 shipped eight million times. The second The Outer Worlds expansion, Murder on Eridanos, should be released by April 2021.
