European Commission also approves Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda

The European Commission has approved the acquisition of Bethesda and parent company ZeniMax by Microsoft.

On the website of the European Commission it can be read that the decision to approve it was made on 5 March. Last Friday, the US Securities and Exchange Commission also approved the acquisition.

This means that the acquisition of ZeniMax by Microsoft in both Europe and the United States approved. All major corporate acquisitions must go through such an approval process to counter monopoly positions in the market. It is not known whether further steps need to be taken until Microsoft can finalize the acquisition.

With the $ 7.5 billion acquisition, Microsoft will own all ZeniMax studios and franchises including Doom, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Starfield and Wolfenstein. It is not yet known to what extent all of these franchises will be exclusive to Xbox systems and PC – Microsoft has not yet made a public statement on this.
