Covid-19 vaccine tests on children within a month

The University of Oxford plans to test the Covid-19 vaccine on children for the first time, to become the latest developer of the vaccine to assess its effectiveness in young people.

The experiment announced on Saturday seeks to recruit 300 volunteers between the ages of 6 and 17 years old, 240 of whom receive the Covid-19 vaccine and the rest receive a meningitis vaccine.

While most children do not get severe disease from Covid, Andrew Pollard, the chief researcher of the Oxford vaccine trial, says that -19, “It is important to demonstrate the safety and immune response to the vaccine in children and young adults, as some children may benefit from the vaccination.”
