Jan. 18 (UPI) — Paul George, Luke Kennard and Marcus Morris Jr. scored 20 points apiece to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 33-point blowout victory over the Indiana Pacers.
Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard chipped in 19 points in the 129-96 win Sunday at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Clippers have now won four consecutive games.
The Clippers bench outscored the Pacers bench 65-14 in the win.
“The chemistry is amazing,” George told reporters. “It’s a real bond and it’s fun. This team is locked in and we are together.”
Pacers forward Doug McDermott started out hot, with 15 points in the first quarter, but Indiana trailed 36-26 after the first 12 minutes. Eight Clippers players scored in the first quarter.
The Pacers outscored the Clippers 29-25 in the second frame, but still trailed 61-55 at halftime.
The Clippers went on a 17-2 run in the third quarter and pushed their advantage to 25 points entering the fourth quarter. Los Angeles outscored Indiana 29-21 down the stretch.
Clippers guard Patrick Beverley scored 11 points and had six assists and five rebounds in the win. Patrick Patterson and Nicolas Batum added 10 points apiece for Los Angeles.
McDermott led the Pacers with 23 points. He made five of seven of his 3-point attempts in the loss. Pacers center Domantas Sabonis recorded 19 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
“Outside of [McDermott] getting off to a quick start with his shot making, I thought we did a great job overall,” Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said.
“Kawhi took the challenge on [defending] Malcolm Brogdon. He really made it tough for him. Outside of McDermott’s 3-pointers, I thought we did a good job.”
The Clippers (10-4) host the Sacramento Kings at 10 p.m. EST on Wednesday at Staples Center. The Pacers (8-5) host the Dallas Mavericks at 7 p.m. EST on Wednesday in Indianapolis.
