100% electric SAV ensures autonomy up to 600 km
BMW will put the BMW ix on the market later this year. The guarantee of the arrival of the new all-electric SAV of the German brand still in 2021 was given by the administrator Pieter Nota at the group’s annual conference stating that the model will now be presented in two versions.
“We made a promise and we will keep it: the launch of the BMW iX on the market will begin at the end of this year with a dual approach: in the form of BMW iX xDrive40 and BMW iX xDrive50.”
The iX xDrive50 will obviously be the more powerful of the two. With an electric motor per axle, the power is greater than 370 kW (500 hp) allowing an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds. The iX xDrive40 lowers these values to about (more than) 240 kW (300 hp) and increases the acceleration to 100 km / h for 6 seconds.
The BMW iX xDrive50 will be equipped with a battery of 100 kWh giving it a range of up to 600 km, while the iX xDrive40 will have a battery of 70 kWh for a range of over 400 km – in terms of consumption, respectively, those of this last version will go in order 20 kWh / 100 km, while those of the first referred to 21 kWh / 100 km.
The charging capacities also differ with the iX xDrive50 allowing 200 kW power and the iX xDrive40 a maximum power of 150 kW – with possibilities for energy charging, respectively, for 120 km and 90 km. But in both versions, it is possible to charge between 10 and 80% of the capacity of high-voltage batteries in 40 minutes.
Pieter Nota also informed that the launch price in the German market of BMW iX – debuting the new iDrive system – is already set starting at 77,300 euros.
