BitBase, a store dedicated to the sale of bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and other items, opened its 15th establishment in Spain.
The company’s strategy is to put the reach of the ordinary public, on popular city streets, the world of cryptocurrencies. Users can buy or sell bitcoins (BTC), ethers (ETH), XRP (Ripple) and tether ( USDT), both in the physical store and on the BitBase website.
In addition, there are offers in hardware wallets or cold wallets, books on cryptocurrencies and blockchain, and an official clothing line of the store. They also collaborate with local artists who are part of the store’s offer, located in the 14 Calle Princesa de Madrid.
The company founded in Barcelona already has two stores in that city, in addition to those in Valencia, Bilbao, Seville, Malaga, Tenerife, Zaragoza, Coruña, Mallorca, Valladolid, Girona and Vilanova. This is the second store to open in Madrid, capital of Spain. In addition, they have 21 ATMs throughout the Spanish territory.
The factor that motivates them to take Bitcoin to the streets is to provide personalized advice, something that is especially desired by first-time users.
«To be able to contribute to this world digital a physical and personal presence makes it safer, easier and more reliable for many people. We advise those people who still have doubts, since there is currently a lot of misinformation about it. Each one has different needs, “says Alex Fernández, CEO of BitBase, exclusively to CriptoNoticias.
As reported by the CEO, 200 BTC were traded only during January in total in the 15 stores. Since 2017, the year the company was founded, 4,000 BTC have been traded, in addition to the other cryptocurrencies.
Regarding the challenges of opening and operating a physical establishment in the context of the pandemic of Covid-19, Fernández assured that people are increasingly attracted to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, in rejection of the monetary policies of central banks, which have made fiat currencies lose value since the disease struck.
“Thanks to that many people are opening their eyes when it comes to traditional money we can feel fortunate to participate in this change in our stores “, he said.
Bitcoin manifests itself outside the digital world
By 2021 BitBase aims to expand to other European countries, in addition to installing ATMs in countries like Andorra.
As reported by CriptoNoticias, the number of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency ATMs doubled last year, accounting for more than 11,000 units in the world, according to CoinATMRadar. The same portal indicates today that there are already 14,936 cryptocurrency ATMs.
It also indicates that in Spain there are 119 cryptocurrency ATMs. The country ranks fifth in the world of countries with ATMs, only behind the United States (12,575), Canada (1,175), United Kingdom (239) and Austria (148).
