Zardari attacks Imran for ‘spewing poison’ against state institutions

ISLAMABAD: Co-Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday blamed Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan of ‘spewing poison’ against state institutions.

Zardari condemns Imran for “cross every line” to wreak havoc in country, according to the statement posted on in official PPP Twitter account.

“This man cares neither for the well-being of neither country of its institutions,” the PPP leader said, adding that Imran “sees nothing but power”.

Next, Zardari said that survival of country depends on survival of its institutions and any attack on these institutions “will not be admitted.”

former The President noted that the country and its institutions have been fighting the common enemy since 1947 and will continue to do so.

“This time enemy attacked us from within,” he said, veiledly referring to Imran Khan. He added that martyrs and victims of pakistani army will never be forgotten and such tricks made by means of ‘enemy’ will be defeated.

Zardari’s statement was made after the assassination attempt on Imran Khan on the 3rd of November. In a video message the next day, the head of PTI stated that the three people – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaulla and senior military officer – were behind in attack.

He asked his party workers and supporters continue to protest against assassination attempt until the three “accused” resigned. He said resign of three, who “controlled all the agencies”, was necessary for impartial probe.

“Never compromise on your independence. Protest is your right,” he said, calling on his supporters to “fully participate.” in protest against demand resignation of three suspects.

“I will go out into the street immediately after my recovery and will give a call for [march towards] Islamabad,” the PTI chairman said. He also asked the commander of the army to do senior military official concerned to resign.
