Wapda chief reviews pace of work on Nai Gaj Dam

HYDERABAD: Water and Energy Authority (Wapda) Chief Engineer Lieutenant General (R) Sajjad Ghani was in charge on Wednesday project leadership to make joint efforts for minimizing the adverse impact of recent flood on implementation of Construction of the Nai Gage Dam on Guy River, 65 km to the northwest of Dadu in province of Sindh.

According to a Wapda spokesperson, the chairman expressed his opinion during the chairmanship. over meeting held for review post-flood scenario on Nai Gage Dam project. The meeting was attended by Wapda member (Water), CEO (Projects) South, Project Director Nai Gaj Dam and project leaders. of Consultants and Contractor.

The detailed presentation was made during the meeting on preliminary and post-flood situation on in project. It was reported that construction work on in project resumed last month, which remained suspended for about five months due to the devastating flood in in project area. At present, work continues on different sites of in project including main dam and spillway. Chairman, emphasizing the importance of in project emphasized on project chalk management out contingency plan possible delays in in way to completion of in project.

Nai Gage Dam is a multi-purpose project and main goals of in project must store water for irrigation, flood mitigation and the creation of Heidel electricity cost. It will have a total water storage capacity of 300,000 acre feet with command area of 28,800 acres of Earth. Installed generation capacity of in project is 4.2 MW. project planned for completion by the end of 2024.
