Voicechat is not in Battlefield 2042 at launch. The capability should be available sometime soon after launch added.

Battlefield 2042 won’t be officially released until November 19, but people who pre-ordered the Gold and Ultimate editions of the game will be able to play the game starting today. A 10-hour trial is also available today for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members.

However, the ability to communicate with other players via voice – an option present in most online games – is currently missing. The Washington Post reports that developer Dice claims it will add the option sometime “shortly after launch.” According to Dice, many gamers also use standalone chat programs, such as Discord.

Although a precise date that voice chat will be added is still missing, The Washington Post reports that it has since learned that voice chat can be added on “day 25”.
Gamer.nl posted a review-in-progress this week: “Battlefield 2042 seems to repackage the Battlefield formula in a unique way. With a futuristic twist and focus on teamwork between Specialists, this part stands proudly on its own, while the shooting stays true to past success. Both the continuation of classic modes and the new Hazard Zone have potential to remain interesting, the Portal element pays off especially as an ingrained remaster of multiplayer nostalgia. However, the game’s life expectancy stands or falls with the service component, about what now g is very unclear.”
