One person said: “I went out and see my friends, but I’m worried about way I looked and smelled, so I became a recluse, I got so upset that my life changed.”

Rising prices for fuel and products exacerbated problem as well as new numbers show nearly half of Adults in the UK struggling make ends meet.

Data from the office for National statistics published on Tuesday showed that 45% of Adults who paying electricity bills was very, or few, hard afford them up from 40% in June.

Separate data also showed that price of in cheapest supermarket items grew by 17%.
