The Prime Minister repeats resolve to strengthen Pakistani-Norwegian ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store of Norway on aside of COP 27 climate summit in Sharm El Sheikh on Tuesday.

The heads of the two states discussed bilateral relations and exchanged views on international and regional issues of common interest.

The Prime Minister confirmed that Pakistan attaches great importance to its long-standing ties. with Norway, highlighting need for enhanced bilateral cooperation in trade clean energy, education and technology.

The Prime Minister noted the positive contribution made in Norwegian tech as well as telecom companies in Pakistan’s service sector.

He hoped that more Norwegian companies and enterprises will take advantage of investor-friendly government policy in in future.

The Prime Minister briefed his Norwegian counterpart on unprecedented destruction caused climate-induced floods that inundated vast areas of Pakistan before this year.

Thanks to Norwegian government for providing critical support for Pakistan flood relief efforts, the Prime Minister stressed need for two countries to work together to deal with the adverse effects of Changing of the climate.

Discussing the situation in the region, the Prime Minister highlighted India’s ongoing human rights violations. in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He stressed that lasting peace and stability in South Asia remain elusive without a peaceful solution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute in conformity with aspirations of Kashmiri people and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

PM reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He said that constant and practical participation with Afghanistan was critical to help the Afghan people to deal with with humanitarian and economic crises that engulfed their country.

The Prime Minister repeated his invitation to Prime Minister Store to visit Pakistan at the earliest opportunity.
