representative for Leicestershire Police said: “Shortly after 3:10 pm today (Tuesday 10 May) a report was received. in attitude towards suspicious package being within main Terminal at East Midlands Airport. In the interests of officer and public safety the terminal has been evacuated.
“An explosive ordnance disposal service was called to help the officers, which determined item did not put any risk of harm public. Not criminal no offenses foundone was arrested and call was made in line with appropriate protocol.”
A spokesman for East Midlands Airport said: “Following reports of suspicious package, the East Midlands airport terminal was evacuated this afternoon as a precautionary measure to allow police to carry out the necessary investigations. Now it is open again and we are working with airlines to get passengers on their flights. We thank customers for their patience and understanding.
