Studio head Arkane Lyon left after almost seventeen years

Romuald Capron, studio head of Arkane Lyon, has left the company after nearly 17 years of service.
He let us know via an update on LinkedIn. He said it was a “very difficult decision”, but he “wanted to try something new” and spend more time with his family. It is not known exactly what Capron will do, but he does say that he wants to continue to help game companies “make their creative vision a reality”.

Van as far as we know there is no such thing as bad blood. “I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished with this great team. The successful launch of Deathloop is further proof that Arkane has a bright future ahead of it, as well as a unique place in our industry.”

Capron joined Arkane Lyon in January 2005 and became studio head in April 2019. The developer’s most recent game is the recently released Deathloop, which has been received positively worldwide. Earlier this year, parent company Bethesda was acquired by Microsoft. Deathloop received an 8.5 on Gamer.nl: “Deathloop is a bizarre fever dream that is actually too fun is to wake up from. An absurd, retrofuturistic murder mystery in which you don’t solve the murders, but you have to commit them. You can leave it to Arkane Studios to create a credible world like this.”
