Stagecoach Group co-founder Dame Ann Gloag charged in connection with human trafficking investigation

Dame Ann Gloag, co-founder of The stagecoach group was charged in connection with crimes related to human trafficking.

Her husband David McCleary and two other members of them family we also charged in connection with investigation on Thursday.

A Scottish police spokesman said: “On 19 January 2023, four individuals were charged. in connection with investigation of alleged crimes related to human trafficking and immigration.

“The report will be sent to the fiscal prosecutor’s office.”

representative for 80-year-old vehemently denied the allegations and said the businesswoman would “resolutely defend herself to protect her legacy”.

The statement read: “Although we cannot comment on details of ongoing investigation, Dame Ann strongly disputes the malicious accusations that were made against her, her foundation and members of her family and will vigorously defend herself and work of her foundation to protect her legacy and continue her work helping thousands of people in UK and overseas each year”.

Dame Ann who was made Lady Commander of order of british empire in New Year Awards 2019 list is one of richest in scotland women after the launch of the stagecoach group in 1980 next with her brother.

She worth over reported £700m and owns foundation aims to fight poverty and encourage progress of education, health and religion in UK and overseas.
