St Leonards incident: Large police presence called to ‘armed incident’

A large police presence responded to the armed incident, with people said to avoid scene.

Several cops vehicles and firearms officers were seen near the scene in Theaclen Drive in St. Leonards, along with ambulance team.

The police helicopter was also saw circling over in area.

Witness Daniel Burton said the helicopter was flying “very low” over the scene. of Incident.

He said: “I saw a police helicopter flying over Hollington and Silverhill. area in St. Leonards and he was flying real low so I thought they were watching for someone.”

The police were also called upon to respond to a related incident at Churchill Court, off Stonehouse Drive – less than half a mile away from an armed incident.

Sussex Police called public to avoid both areas with increased police presence in place.

A police spokesman said: “At 7:10 p.m., police responded to an armed incident on Teaclen Drive, St Leonards and a related incident at Churchill Court. off Stonehouse Drive.

“No injuries were reported.

“Please avoid both areas. Police presence will be increased while we respond to this incident.”
