World Day Against Child Labor celebrated on Sunday bye more more than 6.4 million children in Sindh out of school and doing in worst form of child labor that deprives them of their right to health, education and other basic facilities.

Civil society organizations working on children’s rights expressed concern over in rising trend of child labor and called on the Sindh government and the federal government to take action against in menace. “About 1.7 million forced laborers in Sindh; of these, over 700 000 children are forced laborers working under indecent and inhuman working and living conditions imposed by their landlords. in agricultural sector,” said Akram Khaskheli, president of the Hari Welfare Association (HWA), which operates for peasants and the rights of the child in Sind.

According to data compiled by the HWA, about 3,329 children, including minors as young as a few weeks old, were released along with with their adult family members in custody of landowners in agricultural sector, while a large number of children are still under their care.

According to HWA, children up to 15 years of age exploited, abused and tortured in bracelet, brick kiln, fishing, auto workshops, sectors/activities for the harvest of cotton and chili peppers in province, but no concrete relief efforts and justice them. “All government departments responsible to deal with with issues, including labor inspectors, social social workers and child protection officers don’t bother to take action and rescue them,” Khaskheli said.

HWA in in his statement regrets that the government’s utter ignorance and lack of of policy and a plan to end child labor also added more to suffering of children and their families. Also due to of inaccessibility of work for adults, inflation, and low-wage work, low-income families are increasingly putting forward their children to join harmful work.

” government is good when introducing laws, but worst of all when implementing them,” the statement said, adding that there are a number of of laws in province, but in in vain. “Sindh Tenancy Law, 1950, Sindh Child Protection Authority Law, 2011, Sindh Provincial Right to of Free and Compulsory Education for Children Act 2013, Sindh Forced Labor System Abolition Act 2015 and Sindh Prohibition of Employment of Children Act, 2017 give protection to children but implementation of the law was far away dream as children engaged in worst forms of child labour .

It may be mentioned here that Sindh government a few years ago it was also passed, “Sind Wright of Law on Free and Compulsory Education of Children. crime if parents do not send your child under age of 16 to school and force him to work.
