Ukrainian forces withstood the shelling of Russian artillery and air force that destroyed city.
The Ministry of Defense said that now “intensive street to street hostilities” and that “both sides are likely to suffer heavy losses of victims”.
In an interview with Ukrainian media Sergey Gaidai, Governor of Lugansk said that Ukraine is simply losing to Russia in arms.
“The only one problem in Ukraine – disadvantage of long-range artillery. If there were enough artillery and ammunition for it, we would have pushed back the enemy artillery and I can guarantee that our military would clear in city fully in two days,” he said.
