Renowned educator Hunaid Lakhani passes away at 49 in Karachi, Pakistan

Social worker and founding rector of Iqra University (IU) Hunaid Lakhani dies in Karachi on Thursday in the Age of 49.

His personal secretary Waqar Lakho said Dawn.com that Lakhani traveled to Thatta on Monday to participate in flood relief activities.

Upon returning to the city developed his temperature rose and his condition began to worsen, Laho said, adding that he was subsequently diagnosed with with dengue.

Lahani was admitted to the hospital in Clifton on Wednesday night after I had trouble breathing. “He breathed his last on Thursday morning,” Laho said.

His funeral prayers will be offered at the Masjid-i-Sahim. in Hayaban-e-Rahat DHA on Friday after Asr prayer.

Lakho said the funeral prayers would take place on Friday as Lakhani’s son as well as daughter lived abroad.

News of Lakhani’s demise shocked all segments of society. Government officials, politicians and human rights activists called death a great the loss for country.

President Arif Alvi expressed deep sorrow and prayed for departed. “Through these incidents, we must remember that life is uncertain and short,” Alvey tweeted.

Shehriar Afridi of PTI also expressed grief and remembered Lahani as someone who “worked a lot in various fields for improving life of masses”.

“Today we have lost a philanthropist, academician and comrade who was more like a brotherAfridi said.

“I just I can’t believe you’re gone,” said musician-turned-social worker Shehzad Roy.

MNA Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said that Lahani was ” winner in every front of life, but died of dengue fever. He expressed his condolences family.
