Queen’s Birthday Honors list: Famous faces include Rio Ferdinand, Damian Lewis and Stella McCartney | UK news

Famous figures of show business, sports and politics – as well as some of National COVID Heroes Honored in Queen’s birthday list to celebrate her platinum anniversary.

This year’s recipients are said to reflect the monarch’s “priceless” qualities as she celebrates 70 years on throne, with organizers give more consideration of certain topics, including sustainable public service, environment and youth engagement.

Actor Damian Lewis is among the award recipients – who raised £1.5 million for food for NHS workers during the pandemic with his late wife Helen McCrory – fashion designer Stella McCartney and TV presenter Claire Balding, who all earn CBE.

Former England international Rio Ferdinand receives MBE, while Wales star Gareth Bale and Liverpool midfielder James Milner have received OBEs.

From world of politics, former Northern Ireland first minister Arlene Foster receives the title of lady and ex-cabinet minister Jeremy Wright – who called for Boris Johnson resigns over party this week – Awarded a knighthood.

Labor MP Stephen Timms, who was stabbed to death by a woman in attempt murder in 2010is also knighted.

There are top honors for author Sir Salman Rushdie and illustrator Sir Quentin Blake who are made Companions of Honour.

Order of associates of Honor limited just 65 participants in any one time and recognize those who have made long-term contribution to art, science, medicine or government.

Sir Quentin greeted him award as a “huge privilege” and Sir Salman said, “It was with great surprise and delight that I learned of this exceptional honor. It’s a privilege to be included in such a renowned company as past and present.”

COVID workers honored

This year Birthday Awards list once again features involved in in fight against in coronavirus outbreak.

There are chivalry for AstraZeneca CEO Pascal Soriot – after the company developed successful vaccine with Oxford University – and Stephen Powys, national medical director for NHS England.

England’s chief nurse Ruth May is made a lady and Andrew Goddard, President of King’s College of Doctors, knighted.

Dr. Raghib Ali, Consultant in acute medicine is made WTO after he took leave your university work voluntarily free of charge in hospitals on COVID front line.

As well as 22-year- old nurse Alex Griffithsby Dudley in West Midlands, who provided thatof-life care for patients unable to see their loved ones due to COVID restrictions receive the British Empire Medal.

Sport

British women curlers recognized for their gold medals performance at the Winter Olympics in Japan.

Skip Eva Muirhead who eventually won gold at her fourth Games, this made MBE, and MBEs go to her teammates Jennifer Dodds, Haley Duff, Miley Smith and Victoria Wright, and with coach David Murdoch.

Husband and wife Neil and Laura Faci, who each won gold in paracycling at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, get a WTO.

Visually impaired skier Neil Simpson receives an MBE after winning the Winter Games. with his brother Andrew, who acts as its conduit, receiving the same recognition.

Arts and Entertainment

MBEs are served up Masterchef host Jon Torode and Gregg Wallace for food and charity services.

Wallace said, “From the council estate in peckham get queen recognition for something like a fairy tale story. I’m incredibly, incredibly proud.”

Ian Rankin, author of Inspector Rebus novels, knighted for services to literature and charity.

Singer Bonnie Tyler receives MBE and said honor shows what “anyone from any background can become success”.

Former broadcast journalist Alexis Bowwater receives OBE for spend past decade of work on combat violence against women after being terrorized by a cyberstalker who was imprisoned in 2009.

Politics

Commenting on her femininity former DUP leader Ms Foster told Sky News it was a “huge thrill” because she “big royalist”.

She is added: “I follow The Royal Family, especially Her Majesty the Queen, to receive a letter on Her Majesty’s service, as I informed me, was really excellent.”

And there is second consistent honor for Blair family next former prime minister Sir Tony’s knighthood for the New Year. His son Yuan receives the title of MBE for educational services in his role as founder of Multiverse, which provides apprenticeship programs.

The youngest and oldest laureates

oldest recipient in it’s years list 104-year- old Angela Redgrave who – like queen – celebrating 70 years of public services as a founder and leader of bristol school of Dancing.

The youngest winners are 11 years old.year-old twins Elena and Ruben Evans-Guillen who raised more over £46,000 for National Health Service over in past three years.

All three were awarded medals of the British Empire.

BUT total of 1134 people received award in Queen’s birthday list, with a record proportion going to women.

Percent of women this is year – 51.5% – slightly higher than the previous record of 51.2% set in 2015.

proportion going to people from ethnic minorities, 13.3%, down from record fifteen% last year.

Percent of LGBT recipients down a little off last yearfrom 5% to 4.6%.

PM: Honor recipients are ‘an inspiration for us all’

Prime Minister Mr Johnson said: “This historic platinum anniversary is not only celebration of monarch, but of the qualities she has.

“The honors she is presenting this week reflect many of those qualities that were invaluable in all the different outings of lives and communities across the UK.

“I’m crying tribute all of this is the year winners. Their stories of courage and compassion inspire us all.”
