Punjab Assembly speaker ‘disposes’ governor’s order requiring CM Elahi to take vote of confidence – Pakistan

Therefore, the PA speaker ruled that “the order of governor asks for chief minister take vote of confidence being not in correspondence with the aforementioned provisions of Constitution and rules of procedure, further processing is not possible; therefore, manage of respectively”.

Commenting on case after PA session- said the speaker Dawn.com that he had a meeting with lawyers on interpretation of constitution and rules. “I’ve been saying this since first day and I think [this interpretation] right, he added.

Sibtein also regarded the governor’s order as “illegal and incorrect.”

Meanwhile the main whip of PML-N Tahir Khalil Sindhu said that the MPA of the opposition alliance will arrive in the PA tomorrow at 16:00 to take part in the session summoned by the governor.

“A meeting called by the governor, in correspondence with Constitution and law,” he insisted.

Sindhu said CM Elahi will have to accept vote of confidence in anyway, otherwise he would stop keeping his office. “If the meeting does not take place place tomorrow and boss minister does not accept vote of confidence then the governor will de-notify him,” he said. added.

PTI has 177 members and PML-Q has 10 members. in PA. On the other hand, the opposition has 176 members from the PML-N, PPP and Rah-i-Haq parties.

Governor’s Message

Governor also quoted Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s December 4 statement that he was not going to dissolve PA until March 2023 – “a position that is completely contrary to with PTI public position on in issue and this led to the resignation of two PTI MPAs in protest.”
