PTI accepts lead winning 23 places

MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) wins on 23 seats followed by the People’s Party of Pakistan (PPP), which won 10 seats in the local government (LG) polls in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), ARY News reported. on Sunday.





According to unofficial and unconfirmed results of AJK LG polls, PTI candidates won 21st place, and PPP secured the victory on 10 places. Pakistan Muslim Nawaz League (PML-N) won eight places in AJK LG polls, while five independent candidates were declared winners.

Muslim Conference declared victorious on one seat.

Twelve PML-N candidates were declared winners. in Wards of Muzaffarabad city, 8 PTI candidates so far won polls.

After a long wait of over three decades first phase of local government elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) ended today at 17:00.

Voting has ended in three districts of Muzaffarabad District – Neelum Valley, Jhelum Valley and Muzaffarabad. Voting continued until 17:00 without a break.

Strict security measures have been introduced in place to maintain law and order during voting in AZhK.

Out of 1,323 polling stations, 418 were declared “sensitive” and 257 “most sensitive”, with three and five police officers personnel were deployed accordingly. Two police officers were stationed at other polling stations, officials said.

BUT total of 2716 candidates, including 900 self-nominated candidates. in Competition for 595 seats in Muzaffarabad, Neelum valley and Hattian Bala district, while in second phase will be voted on in four districts of Punch Division on December 3rd.

Among the candidates were 575 from PTI, 465 from PML-N, 545 from PPP, 113 from All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, 67 from TLP, 46 from JI and 900 independent candidates.

According to the Electoral Commission, A. total of 695,049 voters, including 320,747 women, exercised their right to vote in in first phase of elections in three districts of Muzaffarabad division.

It is worth noting that local government elections in two other divisions of state of Poonch and Mirpur will be held on 3 and 8 January respectively.

Former Chief Electoral Commissioner of the Region (CEC), retired Judge Abdul Rashid Sulehria announced keep local government (LG) elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) in phases.
