ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday sent to the authorities concerned prepare a robust National Flood Control Plan after due diligence and consultation with international experts in field.

Prime Minister also led the founding of committee to present a viable plan for in improvement of drainage system in country in to minimize the damage caused by floods in in future.

These instructions he gave when presiding over first meeting of The National Flood Response and Coordination Center (NFRCC) at the headquarters of the Earthquake Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Administration (ERRA) is here.
He said effective drainage system and disaster-resilient infrastructure have been critical to defend the country against Natural disasters.

The Prime Minister asked the chief provincial secretaries ensure efficient implementation of zoning laws and regulations on land use in riverbed to avoid any such disaster in in future.
The Prime Minister emphasized: “A joint survey of representatives of The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the Pakistan Army Engineering Corporation and the provincial tax authorities are doing their best to obtain reliable data. on scale of loss of life, property, and infrastructure affected by recent rains and floods in All parts of country in to accelerate and further harmonize various relief efforts made to remedy a historical disaster.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz was briefed by the National Flood Response and Coordination Center (NFRCC). team. He was told that the NFRCC was implementing a tripartite strategy of rescue, assistance and rehabilitation to effectively minimize damage caused historical rains and floods in country, especially in Sindh and Balochistan.

It is important to note that the National Flood Response and Coordination Center (NFRCC) has been set up on in direction of prime minister to coordinate flood relief efforts of federal and provincial departments in to cope with damage caused as a result of this historic natural disaster caused by climate change.
