ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif was briefed on Sunday about ongoing rescue and relief operations. out Pakistani army in telephone conversations with Main of General of the Army Staff (COAS) Qamar Javed Bajwa and Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz.
In a telephone conversation with COAS General Bajwa, prime minister spoke about the situation of flood casualties and relief and rehabilitation operations in in flood-hit areas, especially in Sind.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister stressed the need to accelerate of efforts.
The army commander said prime minister of army full cooperation in process, while Prime Minister Shehbaz praised the army’s cooperation and enthusiasm.
Helicopter surveillance to be useful in operations since the roads connecting the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan were destroyed, prime minister directed for security of helicopters in provinces.
General Bajwa also reported that he had issued special direction commander of the southern command over relief activities in Balochistan.
The Prime Minister instructed the relevant authorities of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) for immediate distribution support funds among flood affects of Sind.
On the other hand, NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz briefed the Prime Minister. of in latest situation of precipitation and floods in Sindh including cooperation extended during ongoing rescue operations in two provinces and measures taken so far.
