ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday accepted the resignation of Wapda Chairman Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain, ARY NEWS reports citing sources.
According to the details, the chairman of Wapda, Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussein, resigned from his post on Saturday and sent it to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
BUT year ago in August 2021, Ministry of Water resources extended his term of office and notified Muzammil Hussain as Chairman of the Water and Energy Development Authority (Wapda) for a second consistent term of five years.
Mr Hussein had first was assigned to post on August 24, 2016, by then prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
During his tenure, $2.6 trillion worth of projects were initiated and the Neelum Jhelum and Tarbela Fourth Expansion Hydropower Mega Projects were completed.
Beyond civilian work initiated on three others mega projectsincluding the Dasu, Diamer Basha and Mohmand dams.
Former finance minister Shaukat Tarin said that the resignation of General Muzammil Hussain was regrettable. “He is a capable and professional person. He received full government support during our tenure,” Taryn said.
