PM sends second summary for Removal of Governor of Punjab to President Alvi

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif once again sent resume for removal of governor of Punjab to President Dr. Arif Alvi.

According to the law, 10 days after the dispatch of the report, the Governor of Punjab will be automatically dismissed, after which the Prime Minister will advise the President. for appointment of a new governor.

Currently Punjab Governor Omar Sarfaraz Cheema has 10 days left and will be removed from office after this period of time over.

However, Prime Minister Shehbaz had earlier also sent a summary to the president and today it is 14 days since it was sent and not implemented.

Punjab was drawn in in legal and constitutional crisis last month after federal government originally stated that Punjab Governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema was removed on order of prime minister, but former challenged authority of the last one to fire him.

April 17 hours after the governor postponed oath-in ceremony of recently elected main minister of Punjab Hamza Shahbaz, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Representative Marriyum Aurangzeb announced what he was removed.

However, Chima said news conference that only the president and not prime ministerhad the right to remove him. Until the President issued an order of his removal, chima added he will continue to keep office.

Chima was appointed governor last month after former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government removed Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar. President Alvi gave the order for removal of ex-governor of Punjab at 4 am, immediately at the request of the then Prime Minister Imran Khan.
