Pemra orders to close ‘immediately’ of Bol News broadcast quoting failure get security clearance – pakistan

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) on Monday decided shut down Transmission of Bol News as well as Bol Entertainment for what he said was their failure obtain security clearance from the Ministry of the Interior.

At today’s Pemra meeting, it was said that also revoked licenses of channel – owned by M/s Labbaik (Pvt) Ltd – in 2017, adding that the case was pending in the High Court of Sindh until last year.

Pemra told SHC also wrapped up the case in 2021. The Assembly was informed that the channel cannot be allowed to operate until the Ministry of The interior issued a security clearance.

“Consequently, Pemra has considered all records, court orders and notices from the Home Office and has subsequently decided to revoke the licenses issued by Labbaik (Pvt) Ltd (Bol News and Entertainment Bol) with instant effect.”

The supervisory body noted that the license of Bol Entertainment expired in December 2021 and the company did not contact Pemra for its update.

In January 2021, Pemra was disqualified. Bol News‘ license for 30 days and a fine of 1 million rubles. on it for making “disparaging” remarks against judges of High Court of Lahore.
